πŸ”₯ 2 Fresh Remote DevOps Jobs

“Is AI going to replace DevOps engineers?“ I get this question constantly. After studying AI tools and their real-world applications in DevOps, I have a definitive answer. Lets dig in.

The AI reality check most engineers need The AI panicis real, but it’s based on misunderstanding what DevOps actually involves. ChatGPT can write you a Dockerfile or explain Kubernetes concepts, but it can’t understand your unique infrastructure challenges or make critical decisions about production systems.

Here’s what I’ve learned from analyzing dozens of AI implementations across the DevOps landscape:

What AI cannot do: β€’ Understand business context or make strategic infrastructure decisions β€’ Handle complex incidents that require human judgment β€’ Design architecture that balances technical and business needs β€’ Navigate stakeholder management or internal politics

What AI excels at: β€’ Detecting anomalies through intelligent monitoring tools like Datadog and Dynatrace β€’ Reviewing code and flagging issues using Copilot and Snyk β€’ Generating postmortems and runbooks from incident data (requires human validation) β€’ Optimizing cloud costs by auto-scaling infrastructure with machine learning models

Do keep in mind these are limited and by no means at expert level. The key insight here is that AI doesn’t replace DevOps engineers. It eliminates the tedious parts so you can focus on the interesting challenges.

So.. Will AI replace us?

No, I don’t think so - at least not anytime soon, Front/Backend is likely first to go, but .. it will transform how we work.

My recommendation: Start learning to work* with* AI tools, not against them. The engineers who specializes in his craft and masters AI collaboration will become invaluable, while those who ignore it will struggle to keep up. AI still isn’t reliable enough and will take a long time to fix. Specialize and remain valuable.

The tools worth exploring right now: β€’ GitHub Copilot for Infrastructure as Code β€’ ChatGPT and Claude for explaining complex configs and troubleshooting β€’ Datadog’s AI-powered anomaly detection

The jack-of-all trade’s will be replaced eventuelly. You need to be somebody people go to when they want to know for sure. There is a HIGH demand for deep, hands-on experience.
