Master ONE cloud provider first - here’s why it matters…

Three years ago, I made a big mistake when switching from nursing to tech. I tried to learn AWS, Azure, AND Google Cloud all at once.

The result? I knew a little about everything, but not enough to get hired.

The Hard Truth About Cloud Skills

Here’s what I learned: being great at one cloud platform is worth much more than knowing the basics of all of them. It’s like trying to learn three languages at once - you won’t speak any of them well.

What Actually Works

I found success by doing this instead:

  • Picking one provider (I chose Azure)

  • Learning its main services inside and out

  • Building real projects, not just following tutorials

  • Getting several certifications in that one platform

  • Understanding how all the services work together

Pro Tip 💡

The basic ideas - like networking, security, and making systems bigger - work the same way in all cloud platforms. But you need to learn them well in one place first.

Keep automating,

Mischa
